Vilnius Old Town Specific Plan: an assessment of the current situation is presented

19 December. Vilnius City Hall for representatives of the public an assessment of the current state of the Special Plan for Vilnius Old Town and its Conservation Area was presented. The meeting provided an overview of the legal documents and drawings of the area under consideration and presented the conclusions of the assessment. Participants were invited to discuss the findings of the assessment of the current state of Vilnius Old Town and to formulate their observations and proposals for the Special Plan for Vilnius Old Town. The meeting was attended by 29 persons and 44 registered.

Content of the meeting

The dossier consists of graphical and textual material. The graphical part consists of 12 drawings analysing: the boundaries and valuable features of the territory, spatial structure, morphotypes, density of development, a diagram of cultural heritage objects, a diagram of existing cultural heritage objects in the visual protection zone of Vilnius Old Town, other spatial planning documents in force in the Old Town and in the protection zone of the Old Town, archaeology, relief, and an assessment of the existing green areas. The text part describes the summary of the assessment of the existing condition of Vilnius Old Town and presents 5 main conclusions of the assessment of the existing condition: 1. 2. Different morphotypes in the General Plan of Vilnius and in the Act of the Council for the Evaluation of the Real Cultural Heritage (hereinafter referred to as the Act); 3 . Comments and suggestions received

After the presentation of the results of the state of play assessment, the discussion turned to an open debate, with the opportunity for all to ask questions and make suggestions. The comments can be summarised in two groups: 1. What happens next?

Following the discussion, the planning organiser, the Department of Cultural Heritage, and the plan drafter, ID Vilnius, will evaluate the public comments received and the results of the assessment of the existing condition and the problematic issues raised.
