In Pašilaitis, two important public spaces in the district – Ugnija Square and Čikagos Avenue – are to be renovated. Residents are already invited to submit written proposals for the renovation project and to agree on a common vision for these spaces at a later live meeting.
Ugnija Square is a public space in the very heart of Pašilaičiai, next to the shopping centre “Pašilaičiai” (now “Rimi Pašilaičiai”), designed by S. Garuckas and opened in 1986. It is popular with residents, with several children’s playgrounds, gymnastic equipment and fitness equipment, and many trees. The square is used for residents’ events, the most notable of which is the annual Užgavėnės (Mardi Gras) celebration in Pašilaiči. In 2019, a sculptural toy object “12 cubes” by the artist A. Labašauskas took up residence in the square as part of the “I Create Vilnius” programme.
In the early stages of the project, public insights and ideas are extremely valuable and welcome, as no one knows these spaces and their needs as well as the local residents who visit them every day. The suggestions and needs expressed by the residents will be taken into account in the preparation of the design brief, which will lead to the development of the design proposals. The design proposals will also be presented to the public, followed by obtaining the building permit and preparing for the contracting works.
Residents are invited to submit their proposals up to and including 29 September by email to dalyvavimas@idvilnius.lt. Projekto rengėjams (UAB „ ID Vilnius“) svarbu išgirsti gyventojų idėjas ir poreikius dar prieš susitikimą, kad būtų galima išsigryninti pagrindinius klausimus diskusijai.
The meeting will take place live on 1 October at 18:00, Vilnius Žemynos Pro-Gymnasium (Žemynos g. 14). Susitikimo metu apžvelgsime gyventojų pateiktas idėjas ir sieksime rasti visus tenkinantį aikštės ir alėjos atnaujinimo projektą. Susitikimas yra atviras visiems, dalyvausiančius kviečiame užsiregistruoti.
