“ID Vilnius has signed a cooperation agreement with the municipalities of war-torn cities in Ukraine to develop a 3D spatial planning tool.

This tool will help the cities of Buche and Borodyanka to facilitate reconstruction processes and to develop them in a quality way. The 3D map will be used by both designers and construction companies.

The future virtual platform will be a three-dimensional representation of ongoing and planned construction projects and a comprehensive monitoring of how changes to will affect urban residents and their environment.

ID Vilnius will also cooperate with the Construction Sector Development Agency (CSDA) in this project. The project’s milestones were discussed last week at a meeting held remotely with representatives of the municipalities of Bucha, Borodyanka and SSVA.

During the project, Lithuanian experts will train Ukrainian municipal staff in the use of this tool. The tool is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2024.

The first phase of the project will include the development of a digital platform, the collection of 3D images of the city model and the uploading of the data to the platform.

At the end of October, Lithuania signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the authorities of the cities of Buche and Borodyanka on mutual cooperation in solidarity and the implementation of international commitments.

Thousands of buildings and infrastructure were destroyed and damaged during the Russian invasion of these cities.

The implementation of the 3D Territorial Planning Tool project is funded in equal shares by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of Taiwan.
