In the eastern part of Vilkpėdė, the square between the apartment buildings (52, 54 Savanorių Ave. and 18, 20 Gerosios Vilties St.) and the kindergarten Aušrelė is to be renovated. Residents are invited to attend a meeting on 4 July at 18:00 at the kindergarten-pre-school “Aušrelė” (Gerosios Vilties str. 28) to discuss the renovation of the square. The meeting will last 2-2.5 hours. The meeting is open to all, please register to attend. Registration form: https://forms.office.com/e/RdgPUdePVn During the meeting, the experts will present the initial vision for the renewal of the square and invite residents to express their views and contribute with their ideas and suggestions. At this stage of the project, the public’s insights and ideas are particularly valuable and welcome, as no one knows this space and its needs as well as the local residents who visit it every day. The design brief will be prepared in the light of the residents’ comments and the design proposals will be presented to the public in the next phase. Once the residents’ comments have been taken into account and the design proposals have been approved by the specialists, the technical design will be drawn up and, subject to authorisation, the contract will be prepared for occupation. The square is a popular public space for residents, with several sports and children’s playgrounds and many mature trees. The square is used for celebrations organised by the local community, for example, on 21 June there will be a St John’s Day (Rasa) celebration and on 21 June a St John’s Day (St John’s Day) festival. A Christmas tree has recently been planted to welcome Christmas. However, some of the infrastructure of the square is in a state of serious disrepair: residents have in the past complained about the poor state of the footpaths, and the neglected sports ground and the haphazard parking at the edges of the square also need attention. The renovation aims to highlight the existing qualities of the square – its greenery, wide range of leisure activities, pedestrian connections – and to make it even more responsive to the needs of the citizens. Residents are invited to consult the draft terms of reference for the design proposals and the analysis of the existing situation in advance. The inventory of the vegetation is currently being carried out and will be presented at the meeting. Pre-proposals can be submitted up to the date of the residents’ meeting (15.00 on 4 July). Proposals can be submitted by phone +370 661 80127 on weekdays 9.00-17.00 or by email dalyvavimas@idvilnius.lt
