On the evening of Vilnius’ birthday, 10 distinguished citizens were awarded St Christopher’s statuettes at the Town Hall for their ideas and deeds for Vilnius, as well as for promoting and celebrating the city. This year, over 50 candidates were nominated for the city’s most significant award.
“Mindaugas Grabauskas, architect of Vilnius Plan, is awarded for his services to urban planning and architecture. The laureate has made a significant contribution to the development of architectural science and creative activity. The architect’s outstanding contribution to the improvement of the quality of architectural-urban planning activities is also worth mentioning. Grabauskas is one of the main drafters and managers of the new Vilnius Master Plan.
The St Christopher Awards have been awarded since 1998. Nominations for the award for services to science, law enforcement, education, culture and art, historical memory of Vilnius, sport, business, tourism development, charity, architecture are proposed by Vilnius residents. Other nominations can also be proposed by Vilnius residents.
