2021-03-08

Data-driven solutions can open up new opportunities for urban development and businesses, which is why a Big Data and Competence Centre will be established in Vilnius. The centre will be based on the municipal company Vilniaus Plan, which will be headed by the successful candidate Rūta Klevėnė. According to the Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius, the new head has been tasked with ensuring the strategic direction set for Vilniaus Plan and accelerating change: reducing the monopoly of design in the capital by acquiring services on the market, and preparing the institution for the establishment of the data centre. I will aim to purify the company’s activities and introduce good governance practices. One of the first tasks will be to develop a corporate strategy and to implement the changes in a consistent way. “Vilniaus Plan must become a centre of excellence for urban development and a reliable development partner for the municipality, a smart data centre for the city, helping to plan the development of not only engineering but also social infrastructure,” said R. Klevėnė, the new head of the company. R. Klevėnė holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from Vytautas Magnus University and has more than 10 years of management experience: she has managed consulting and engineering companies, and for the last two years she has been the Director of Vilnius Metrology Centre. “Vilniaus Plan currently employs about 100 people and has a large potential of engineering competences. The company prepares planning and technical project documents, oversees their implementation, and develops and maintains geographical information systems.
