Virtual Gateway to the History of Vilnius – project “Vilnius DNA” has received international recognition. It was shortlisted in the World Summit Awards (WSA), a global digital innovation competition. This year, 449 start-up projects from 89 countries participated in the prestigious awards. 136 projects from 60 countries were shortlisted for the final round. The shortlisted nominees will go to the WSA event in Hyderabad, India. The shortlisted winners will then meet on the stage of the WSA World Congress in Patagonia, Chile in April. The virtual competition, which was launched last year “Vilniaus DNA” platform presents reconstructions of historical topographies created using large-scale city maps and topographical plans from five different periods. The portal offers different perspectives on the city’s history and changes, including historical plans and maps, streets and their names, personalities immortalised in the city, old photographs with postcards and historical events.
